The first-aid requirement

For these care settings the WSQ Certificate in Healthcare embeds a first-aid and CPR unit, and community-care programmes include an SRFAC-accredited CPR + AED module; some healthcare-assistant positions require a valid standalone Basic First Aid and CPR certificate. Staff should be able to respond to an emergency involving an older or vulnerable resident until help arrives.

A recognised, up-to-date first-aid and CPR certificate is the way to meet this expectation; it is in addition to the worker's WSQ healthcare training and must be renewed periodically.
